simplicity #3223; ©1950; miss 16 bust 34″: beach comber pattern. slacks, shorts & shirt, an exceptionally nice design. this one has been used and restored. the masculine style of the pattern is pretty cool for 1950 and still looks wearable today.
the shirt is kept clean and simple but has a very gentle feel to it, due to the band details. the sleeveless version can be over the shorts with pockets at the hem. a band trims the neckline and the front buttoned closing of the shirt and the shorts sleeves turn up to form cuffs. the shorts and slacks are pleated softly at the front and large pockets are concealed in the side seams. belt carriers are optional and the slacks turn up at the bottom to form cuffs. In Style II the shirt is sleeveless. the armholes and large patch pockets are trimmed with bands.
QUALITY:
pieces: 12 printed; repairs; pants are cut to shorts (pant legs are included); shorts piece has been lengthened with plastic tape – shorts pieces redrawn for ease of use!!
instruction sheet: looks great
envelope: ink writing on back, stamp on front and the bottom of the illustration has torn away.
