Charming 1950s loungewear pattern for a negligee or housecoat. So fun to make and really fun to embellish and funkify. Wear the Housecoat as a light coat or dress. The negligee is wearable as evening wear, sleepwear or as a sheer dress to be worn over a slip. These full-fitted designs are perfect to style with purchased or handmade belts or corsets.

V. 1 would look great in a sheer material, the negligee features rounded collar and full three quarter length sleeves with elastic casing at lower edge. Lace trims the collar and sleeves. Streamer bow details the neck edge. V. 2 is really clean (a great style for appliqué), collar and turn back cuffs are accented with contrast bias fabric. Duster, V. 3, is super for quilt techniques. This is styled with a mandarin collar. Multi colour ric rac squares spice up the large patch pockets.

USE

This is a tissue paper pattern for recreating the styles shown on the pattern cover. The original pieces are printed tissue paper and should be handled with care. The envelope back has a text description of the styles, back view sketches of the styles, material useage charts, the measurement chart of the company, notions needed and material suggestions. The information sheet shows a general process of construction with some tips. In order to recreate a style you will need to purchase your material, notions and anything you might need for embellishing. To test the fit, before using expensive fabric, purchase muslin & recreate the style in a basic version. It is advisable to make a paper copy when resizing or altering the design.

CARE

  • For small tears, use archival tape or a glue stick & tissue paper.
  • Store the pattern in its protective sleeve or bag to reduce breakage and further discoloring.
