This oriental pj design is great for lounging or sleeping. the style is classicaly cool. This butterick pattern #2809 is a restored 1940s vintage pattern for a pajama in chinese style with mandarin coat, slit at the sides. This style is also super for silk or rayon quilting.
View A closes with frogs and has a lovely short, stand-up collar. View B is bound with ribbon or braid, is buttoned down the side, and has one pocket. Waistband trousers. This design uses circular shoulder pads, the instructions for these are included.

DETAIL
This restored pattern includes 4 original perforated & 4 redrawn (from a second copy) tissue paper pattern pieces, 1 instruction sheet printed on unbleached paper-brittle at the folds and a pattern envelope with 2C illustration on the front. The envelope is worn, the flap is missing and the original owners name is in pencil on the front. Instructions in english. Archival repairs made to ensure functionality.
This includes a protective archival sleeve or bag & a pattern folder with tips. Please see photos for quality.

USE
This is a tissue paper pattern for recreating the styles shown on the pattern cover. The original pieces are printed tissue paper and should be handled with care. The envelope back has a text description of the styles, pattern piece guide, material useage guide, the measurement chart of the company and notions needed. The information sheet shows a general process of construction with some tips.
In order to recreate a style you will need to purchase your material, notions and anything you might need for embellishing. To test the fit before using expensive fabric, purchase muslin & recreate the style in a basic version. It is advisable to make a paper copy when resizing or altering the design.
CARE
- For small tears, use archival tape or a glue stick & tissue paper.
- Store the pattern in its protective sleeve or bag to reduce breakage and further discoloring.
