simplicity 4873; ©1943; miss 14: shirtwaist dress pattern.
A classic 40s shirtwaist dress with optional patch pockets, having a soft look to it, due to shoulder gathers. This unused pattern makes a great day dress. It includes instructions for creating a detachable collar, bound buttonholes, ruffle inset trim and a self-fabric belt.
The dress waist is gathered to a forward shoulder seam and the skirt front is styled with an inverted pleat. Style I features shaped patch pockets through which the purchased belt is drawn. Detachable contrasting collar and cuffs finish the dress. A self-ruffle outlines the collar and pockets of style II. Style III has a collar and no pockets. Choose long, three-quarter or short sleeves.
