This barbie-style beach pattern is a very funky example of late 60s, early 70s flare. The classic bell bottom pants and the swimwear with a bra top and short bottoms come together to achieve this look. Additionally, the poncho functions as a top in this outfit.

DESCRIPTION OF PATTERN:

The fitted bathing suit includes a tricot lined top and shorts with darts. The bra top style is perfect for smaller bust sizes, which fastens in the front with built-up shoulder straps. The designer partially faced the shorts and added sporty patch pockets. Elastic casings hold in the fullness of the leg openings, creating a snug fit. You wear the hip-hugger shorts 2″ below the normal waistline.

The McCall creatives made the dart fitted pants with the upper edge facing and interfacing. Pants or bathing suit shorts open with left side zippers. The designer also added a dart fit to the lined poncho, binding it with foldover braid. Button closing straps of the poncho are sewn to underside of front and back.

USE
This is a tissue paper pattern for recreating the styles shown on the pattern cover. The original pieces are printed tissue paper and should be handled with care. The envelope back has a text description of the styles, back view sketches of the styles, material useage charts, the measurement chart of the company, notions needed and material suggestions. The information sheet shows a general process of construction with some tips.

In order to recreate a style you will need to purchase your material, notions and anything you might need for embellishing. To test the fit, before using expensive fabric, purchase muslin & recreate the style in a basic version. It is advisable to make a paper copy when resizing or altering the design.
